They will get to learn how to pick out a scent in various environments including containers, interior and exterior and buried. This class will provide you with the foundation if you would like to pursue the many scenting\/nose work titles from AKC and\/or NACSW.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scent Work Beginning Odor Obedience &#8211; <\/strong>This class teaches your dog the basic concept of odor obedience.\u00a0 It will teach you how to understand and develop the indications your dog presents when recognizing the target scent.\u00a0 This class will build a strong foundation of teamwork between dog and handler. The beginning class is for dogs that want to learn the essentials of odor obedience.\u00a0 This is a very basic class not intended for dogs already competing.<\/li>\n<li><b>Scent Work Intermediate\/Advanced &#8211; Not being offered at this time.\u00a0 <\/b>The advanced class is for dogs that have previously completed the beginning class and want to further develop their skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Next Class<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scent Work Beginning Odor Obedience<\/strong>&#8211; Spring 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This class meets at various locations.\u00a0 The first class will meet in Tautphaus Park near Shelter 3. You will need to bring a crate for dog during instruction and while waiting for your turn to scent.<\/p>\n<p>Classes are limited. Please register early.<\/p>\n<h3>Registration<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>PRE-REGISTRATION is required.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Classes are limited to space available.\u00a0 Register early to secure your spot.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Registration should be completed online using the online store.\u00a0 Your slot is reserved when you have finished checking out.\u00a0 You will receive a confirmation email when your order is complete.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>If the class shows as &#8220;Out of Stock&#8221;, the class is full<\/li>\r\n \t<li>If the class is full you may add your name to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usrvdtc.org\/site\/class-waiting-list\/\">waiting list<\/a> in the case that a slot opens up.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Online payment options for PayPal are available.\u00a0 If you plan to use a credit card, select the PayPal option.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Once the online registration is complete, you should receive a confirmation email, including your order number. Save this confirmation for future reference. Should you not receive this confirmation email, please contact the training director listed below.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Class registration will be closed no later than one week prior to the class start date.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>Classes<\/h3>\r\nThe available classes are listed below.\u00a0 To register, please select the class in which you are interested.\n<div class=\"woocommerce columns-4 \"><\/div>\n<h3>Cost<\/h3>\n<p>Costs are for the entire duration of the class, not a weekly rate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Standard Rate: $100.00<\/li>\n<li>Senior Discount (55 and older): $80.00<\/li>\n<li>Second Dog in Same Family for a single class: $85.00<\/li>\n<li>Inactive Club Members: $50.00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Cancellation Fees<\/h3>\n<p><div>Attention: If you cancel your registration, there will be a cancellation\/processing fee which will be deducted from the refund. Cancellation fees are as follows:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>$20.00 if cancelled at any time.<\/li>\n<li>$25.00 if cancelled 14 days or less before start of class.<\/li>\n<li>NO refunds if cancelled 10 days or less before start of class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/p>\n\n<h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum Age for Dogs is 6 months of age<\/li>\n<li>Due to the nature of the class dogs that are dog or people aggressive are not suitable for any of these classes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preparations<\/h3>\n<p>The training director will send an email to all students with orientation type information before the first class.<\/p>\n<p>At classes you will need to bring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring a crate for your dog while they are not working<\/li>\n<li>Bring lots of very smelly treats<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your dog is on a buckle collar with lead<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At home you will need the following for practice.
