Auditing Spot -July 25-26, 2026, Scentwork Seminar with Hallie McMullen

Price range: $100.00 through $150.00

Hallie McMullen, founder of Scentsational K9 Training, brings more than 28 years of professional dog-training experience to the world of scent detection. Her career began in 1996, training drug and explosive detection dogs for law enforcement. By 2000, she had earned certification as both a detection dog trainer and evaluator, solidifying her expertise in working-dog development and odor-based training.

In 2015, Hallie expanded her passion for detection work into the competitive arena, becoming actively involved in the sport of canine scent detection. Her dedication and skill led her to become a judge for the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW), where she continues to contribute to the growth of the sport and its standards.

Hallie loves teaching scent detection to dogs and their handlers, finding tremendous fulfillment in watching teams grow, learn, and—most importantly—have fun together. Whether clients want to compete or simply engage in a mentally stimulating activity with their dogs, Hallie believes scent work is an incredibly versatile sport that opens doors for dogs of all ages, breeds, and backgrounds. Her training philosophy centers on teamwork, confidence building, and creating positive, rewarding interactions between dogs and their handlers.

Outside of scent detection, Hallie is actively involved in multiple canine sports with her German Shepherds, including herding, IGP, tracking, obedience, and conformation. Her wide-ranging experience enriches her approach to training and helps her support each dog-and-handler team on their unique journey.

Through Scentsational K9 Training, Hallie is committed to helping dogs and their humans discover the joy, connection, and personal growth that scent work can inspire.

Day 1: Search Strategies and Improving Your Odor Information
We will spend this day working on skill sets to address common problems that teams have. We will use
specific exercises and games to work on problem areas, build motivation and enhance your working relationship.

We will go over strategies that will help you to problem solve during a trial and to be better prepared for

challenges.

Day 2:  Advanced Hide Placements and Confident Indications
We will go over techniques for training challenging or new hide concepts such as high hides, convergence
and others. We will create more confident indications and reading indication behavior. We will present the dogs
with a variety of search environments including blank spaces and unknown hides so the handlers can
work on recognizing and confidently working these challenges.
